A woman has been arrested for animal abuse after torturing her sister's dog for no reason at all other than thinking that this would make for a fun experiment.

She burnt it alive with a blowtorch then bragged about it on Facebook, quite proud of what she had done. Animal lovers on the social media site were outraged and took action.

The St. Louis, Missouri Animal Cruelty Task Force received complaints and they stepped in, Web Pro News reports. Their investigation revealed that Adrienne Martin had directed the flame to the pooch's face and body.

Brownie, her sister's dog, was chained throughout the procedure. It was taken away by the Stray Rescue organization in St. Louis, but didn't make it because it had suffered severe injuries.

Authorities only became aware of the manner in which the dog was treated because Martin bragged about harming it on Facebook. Otherwise, she might have gotten away with it.

She was questioned and, while originally denying injuring the animal, she eventually pleaded guilty to the charges. Then again, it's safe to assume she's not exactly feeling sorry for her actions.

“Our community is sick and tired of these horrific crimes, and animal abusers everywhere need to know their crimes won’t be tolerated and you will be arrested,” says founder of Stray Rescue, Randy Grim.

If found guilty in a court of law, the woman risks being made to pay a hefty fine. She might even be sentenced to time in prison.
