The woman says she only brought the kangaroo with her to McDonald’s because it helps her deal with emotional stress

Just days ago, a woman in the US decided that she was in the mood for some fries, maybe even a shake, and so paid a visit to a local McDonald’s joint. Much to her surprise, she ended up being kicked out of the establishment.

No, the woman was not asked to leave the restaurant because she had really bad table manners. The reason she was asked to leave was that she didn't go to the McDonald’s joint alone but accompanied by her pet kangaroo.

The woman insists she did nothing wrong

According to Metro, this peculiar incident occurred in the town of Beaver Dam in Wisconsin towards the end of last week, on Friday. Now, the woman defends herself and says that she did nothing wrong.

Long story short, the woman, identified as Diana Moyer, says that the kangaroo she brought with her to the McDonald’s restaurant was no ordinary animal. She explains that the marsupial is a therapy animal and that she relies on it to cope with emotional stress.

What's more, Diana Moyer insists that she even has a letter signed by a doctor that proves that she is in dire need of emotional support and that, for this reason, she needs to have the kangaroo, named Jimmy, accompany her everywhere she goes.

Apparently, the reason the woman needs to be accompanied by her pet kangaroo at all times is that she is now battling cancer. Otherwise put, she is going through a rough patch and needs all the emotional support she can get.

So, why was she kicked out of the restaurant?

As it turns out, it wasn't McDonald’s employees who first noticed that there might be a problem with having a kangaroo inside the restaurant, even if the animal was wrapped in a blanket and carefully tucked in a baby seat. Thus, it was another customer who first complained.

The reason the restaurant's staff were able to kick Diana Moyer out of the establishment is that, as comforting as her pet kangaroo might be to her, the animal is not a service animal. Hence, strictly legally speaking, it has no business visiting restaurants and other such locations.
