This past Thursday, authorities in Southern California, US, officially charged a local woman of Lake Los Angeles with murder.

The woman, identified as 59-year-old Linda Jackson, is accused of having killed her boyfriend, a 59-year-old man named David Ruiz, by beating him to death with canned food.

Information shared with the public by the law enforcement officers in charge of investigating this case says that the incident happened on Tuesday. The man was killed in the couple's home.

By the looks of it, the foods that 59-year-old Linda Jackson used to beat her boyfriend to death were a can of carrots, a can of chicken broth, and a can of peas.

She simply picked them up and repeatedly hit David Ruiz with them until the severity of his injuries left the man dead on the floor.

Her motives remain unclear

For the time being, authorities cannot say for sure why it was that the woman lost her temper and beat her 59-year-old boyfriend to death with whatever canned foods she could get her hands on.

Then again, it's safe to assume that the murder was not premeditated. If this had been the case, the woman would have likely chosen some other weapon than cans of food.

Rather, chances are that the couple got into a fight, and in a fit of anger, the woman simply lashed out at David Ruiz. It fact, it might be that she never actually wanted to kill him and that his death was merely an accident. A fight that ended terribly wrong, if you will.

It is understood that the woman is now in police custody. Having been charged with murder by prosecutors in Southern California, she risks being sentenced to life in prison if found guilty.

Meanwhile, NBC Los Angeles tells us that, given the gravity of her actions, Deputy District Attorney Jon Hatami wants Linda Jackson's bail to be set at over $1 million (€0.87 million).
