A plastic surgeon in South Florida has been arrested after torturing and severely beating his girlfriend over something she posted on Facebook.

41-year-old Orlando Llorente got angry over the post and a violent argument ensued. He allegedly brutally attacked 36-year-old Leeanne Sauma on April 21, the Miami Herald reports.

Sauma told police about being subdued, threatened, water-boarded and abused for 16 hours straight.

Llorente punched her and hit her head against the floor several times, putting her head in the toilet as well.

The Florida doctor tortured her, stopping her from breathing by placing a rag in her mouth and putting something over her nose.

“He became enraged, grabbed her by the hair, took her into the bathroom, and not only stuck her head inside the toilet, but then put her in the tub and was able to get a rag and stuff it down her mouth,” spokeswoman Kenia Reyes informed in a statement by the Miami police department.

The beating stopped when Sauma was knocked out and lost consciousness. I Digital Times mentions that she escaped when she came to by reassuring him that she would keep quiet about the incident.

Llorente has turned himself in and he is dismissing all the claims against him as false. His lawyer is also hinting that he will be putting the victim's credibility into question in a trial.

“Dr. Llorente voluntarily surrendered to authorities ... and is resolute on clearing his name,” his attorney Marcos Beaton argues.

“He reached out to law enforcement, through his lawyers, when these false allegations surfaced.

“We are disappointed that our requests for more time in which to present a thorough and thoughtful examination into the source of the allegations and the facts surrounding them was declined,” Beaton adds in his statement.
