Wolfenstein: The Old Blood, the upcoming standalone expansion for Wolfenstein: The New Order that's set to debut tomorrow, comes with not only some fresh adventures for protagonist BJ Blazkowicz but also new Nightmare levels that span the first episode of the original Wolfenstein 3D title from 1992.

Wolfenstein: The New Order rebooted the universe of the long-running first-person shooter series, delivering a stellar new adventure starring BJ Blazkowicz as he takes on the Nazi empire in an alternate reality where the Germans won World War 2 and enslaved humanity.

After having delivered the great shooter last year, developer MachineGames and publisher Bethesda started working on a standalone expansion called Wolfenstein: The Old Blood, which brings a few new adventures for Blazkowicz, set before the events of The New Order.

The Old Blood brings new Nightmare levels

After we heard about its gameplay and a few other details last week, Bethesda now confirms on its Bethblog that The Old Blood also includes new Nightmare levels.

In case you didn't play The New Order or didn't want to engage in the Nightmare activity by sleeping on the special mattress in the resistance hideout, players were able to go through the first level of the original Wolfenstein 3D shooter released back in 1992. While some elements looked just like in The New Order, others, such as the environments, enemies, and so on looked like their pixelated originals.

In The Old Blood, there are nine Nightmare levels, for each chapter in the actual game. Together, they span the complete first episode of Wolfenstein 3D, complete with the boss fight against Hans Grosse or the secret Floor 10 level.

Players will have to find the secret area in each chapter in order to access the Nightmare level, but once they do, they can replay it or wake up and continue on the main adventure in Wolfenstein: The Old Blood.

The new title launches tomorrow, May 5, worldwide for PC, PS4, and Xbox One platforms.
