The team at video game publisher Bethesda is confirming that the upcoming Wolfenstein: The New Order will be running at the 1080p resolution and at 60 frames per second both on the Xbox One from Microsoft and the PlayStation 4 from Sony.

Initially, the figures were only confirmed for the PS4, but OnlySP quotes Angela Ramsey, a public relations representative from the company, as saying that, “the Xbox One version of Wolfenstein will run at 1080p/60 fps.”

The fact that both next-gen platforms will use the same parameters makes it easier for gamers to choose the version of Wolfenstein: The New Order that they are interested in playing simply by looking at their other features.

For a number of high-profile coming releases, the PlayStation 4 version tends to run at a higher native resolution than on the Xbox One, with some developers saying that the Microsoft device does not have the computing power to compete.

Wolfenstein: The New Order is an upcoming first-person shooter that’s being created by MachineGames and is set to be published by Bethesda.

It is currently set to be delivered on next-gen consoles, on the Xbox 360 from Microsoft and the PlayStation 3 from Sony as well as the PC on May 20 in the United States and three days later in Europe.

The game is designed to entirely reboot the continuity of the series and tell a new story, while also keeping some of the more iconic elements of the franchise and the main mechanics.

The engine powering Wolfenstein: The New Order is a modified version of Tech 5, which is designed to take advantage of the extra computing power available on the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4 to deliver more impressive visuals and more intelligent enemies.

MachineGames will take players back to an alternate reality version of the 1960s in which Nazi Germany managed to win World War II by using superior technology that does not seem to have a human source.

Series protagonist William Blazkowicz, aka BJ, is once again called to fight the enemies of freedom, using a wide array of destructive weapons across a suite of levels, all of them designed to show how the Nazi’s are changing familiar cities on Earth.

The game will feature robotic enemies, some of them very tough to defeat, and the development team also plans to include tense moments without any actual shooting and focus on psychological terror.
