Gamers need to sleep to enter the 16-bit nightmare

The development team at Machine Games and publisher Bethesda have not forgotten the history of the Wolfenstein series for today’s release of The New Order and have included a remake of sections of the 22-year-old classic, created using an entirely modern engine.

The team at Eurogamer has found the Easter Egg and captured footage of it.

Players who want to access it need to sleep for a while on the bed in the safehouse in order to activate a special 16-bit nightmare.

Apparently, dying returns the character to the normal world of the game and sleeping again does not activate the classic Wolfenstein experience once more.

This means that gamers should save just before the moment in order to be able to access the experience as many times as they want and strive to stay alive for as long as possible.

Wolfenstein: The New Order can be played on the PC, the Xbox One, the PlayStation 4 and current-gen consoles.

The story of the title involves a parallel reality where Nazi Germany managed to win World War II using advanced weaponry and robots and gamers need to defeat their forces and restore democracy in the world.

Some issues have been reported with the PC version of the title.
