After confirming a set of release dates among other things, Bethesda has just unveiled a few new details about its upcoming Wolfenstein: The New Order first-person shooter, including a fresh description of the title, not to mention a gameplay video.

Wolfenstein: The New Order was revealed to the world last year as an ambitious reimagining of the first-person shooter series set in an alternate universe where the Nazis won World War 2 and progressed technologically in new ways.

Now, after revealing a May launch date for the game and the fact that all pre-orders will come with beta access into the new Doom game, Bethesda has shared some fresh details about The New Order, via its own blog.

"Developed by MachineGames, a studio comprised of a seasoned group of developers recognized for their work creating story-driven games, Wolfenstein: The New Order is a reimagining of the FPS franchise from id Software. The game offers a deep game narrative packed with action, adventure and first-person combat rendered in stunning detail with id Software’s id Tech 5 engine. And typical of a classic Wolfenstein game, expect plenty of hidden secrets, too."

What's more, a description of the core plot was also revealed, so check it out below

"Wolfenstein: The New Order once again centers around the series’ iconic war hero, B.J. Blazkowicz and this time faces alternate version of the 1960s in which the Nazis won World War II. As the only man capable of rewriting history, with the help of a small group of resistance fighters, infiltrate their most heavily guarded facilities, battle high-tech Nazi legions, and take control of super-weapons that have conquered the earth – and beyond."

Wolfenstein: The New Order launches in May for PC, PS3, Xbox 360, PS4, and Xbox One. You can expect way more details in the near future. Until then, check out the new Boom Boom gameplay trailer below.
