You know that Blizzard's MMO has easily reached 8 million subscribers, right? Well, hold on to your pantyhose because with 3.5 million units of WoW: The Burning Crusade sold, the subscriber population has reached the record number of 8.5 million. Here's how the 3.5 Burning Crusade sold on the globe: Europe grabbed some 1.6 million units, America got an amazing 1.9 million units while Australasia has a mere 100.000 units of the expansion pack acquired so far.

"We're thrilled about the overwhelming response that we've received for The Burning Crusade," said Mike Morhaime, president of Blizzard Entertainment. "We have worked hard to build upon nearly every aspect of World of Warcraft with this expansion, and it's gratifying to see that players and reviewers are enjoying the new content."

They're enjoying it all right! Some even drop dead on their keyboards because of it. The Burning Crusade is the first expansion pack for this popular MMORPG. It was released on January 16, 2007 at midnight in Europe, United States and Canada, and sold over 2.4 million copies that day alone, so figures today don't seem that surprising anymore.

Now, what do these figures reflect?, if I may ask. I'll tell you what they reflect: the fact that no legislation or no shutting down of Internet cafes is going to keep people away from it. No matter how hard authorities try, Blizzard's MMORPG will remain what it is today-a drug.
