Google has already managed to have its Android operating system loaded on a number of over 190 million devices, the company's CEO has just confirmed.

The company's mobile operating system has been around for only a few years, but it managed to impress a lot of people all around the world, and is expected to continue doing so.

The speed at which Android is growing has been higher in the past few months, the company unveiled.

Google's CEO Larry Page has just confirmed that 60 million new devices were activated since the company's second quarter earnings call, which is more than impressive.

“[The] growth of Android has been mindboggling and over 190M devices have now been activated globally,” Larry Page reportedly stated.

Moreover, he also expressed his enthusiasm on the upcoming Ice Cream Sandwich platform release.

Expected to become official as soon as next week, the new OS flavor will be loaded on a new Google phone, which was long rumored to be released on the market as Nexus Prime.

“I’m super excited about the soon to be released new version of Android, called Ice Cream Sandwich,” Larry Page reportedly stated.

“That’s right, Ice Cream Sandwich. You won’t believe what we managed to get done in this release,” he also said.

The new Android platform release is expected to become official during a press event that will be held in Hong Kong on October 19th.

Google and Samsung already sent out invites to the event, and it seems that things have been already carved in stone.

Hopefully, there will be no last minute change in the release date, just as it happened only recently, when, the two companies announced that the October 11th event at CTIA was actually postponed. Ice Cream Sandwich should fit both the small screens of smartphones, as well as the larger screens of tablet PCs.
