The video game publishing business can be tough at times, as seen in the downfall of Midway and of other smaller companies, but the leaders of Bethesda seem to have found a way of growing even as other companies feel the pressures of recession.

Pete Hines, who is the vice president at Bethesda focused on marketing and on public relations, has told GamesIndustry that, “I have heard a lot of other companies talking about ‘well, we’re going to focus on fewer triple-A titles’, changing their philosophy – but they’re changing it to something that we’ve always been structured towards, and believed in since I started at Bethesda in 1999.”

He added, “We don’t go running after the latest, hottest trend. We tend to pay attention to what we’re doing, we the make that kind of games that we want to play, because we think there’s an audience for those and we try as best we can to execute them to the highest level possible.”

The vice president says that the company is hiring people at the moment and will continue to do so for a while, even as other publishers, like Electronic Arts and Activision Blizzard, are downsizing and firing developers and other staff.

In the coming years Bethesda is preparing to launch games like Prey 2, Brink, Hunted: The Demon’s Forge, RAGE and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.

It's also safe to say that the company is also working on a new content for the Fallout series, both downloadable content for New Vegas and a whole new game.

All of the above-mentioned video games are high-profile launches and the company says that it has the resources needed to give them all the attention they need, making sure that they are all high quality and are met with good review and commercial success.
