Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, a game director working on The Witcher 3, believes that the open world structure of Wild Hunt is not its main feature but simply one more way of increasing the emotional impact of the experience.

He tells StickSkills that, “What we excel at is reaching that centre of the brain that’s responsible for evoking emotions – we constantly put stuff in and observe a full palette of gamers’ reactions.”

Giving players freedom in The Witcher 3 means that they can place more weight on their choices and they will be more affected by the consequences.

The team has already promised that main character Geralt will deal with one of the most important traumas of his past.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will be out in 2014 on the PC and next-generation home consoles.
