CD Projekt has announced that its role playing game The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings have managed to sell 195,000 copies on the Steam service from Valve, 35,000 copies on Good Old Games and another around 10,000 copies using other digital outlets.

Marcin Iwiński, one of the leaders of CD Projekt, stated, “The digital sales of The Witcher 2 have exceeded our expectations. We are even more pleased that our own platform GOG.com had such a great share in the Witcher’s success.”

The figures account for the period between May 17 and October 30.

Iwiński says that the good performance on GOG is a sign that offering the game without any DRM is something that gamers have appreciated.

After September 1 CD Projekt reported that physical sales of The Witcher 2 have gone past the 1 million copies mark.

At the moment the team is focused on porting the game to the Xbox 360 home gaming console and the end of the game makes it pretty clear that a sequel is also being worked on.
