Wisegate has released the results of its first member commissioned IT security benchmark survey. The study focuses on topics such as security program maturity, budgets, risk tolerance, and career challenges faced by CISOs.

56% of the respondents rated their overall security posture as being strong. The study has found that companies with stronger security postures are more likely to train end-users and deploy network access controls.

In comparison, organizations with weaker security postures have fewer systems, processes and software.

As far as budgets are concerned, smaller companies (with less than 1,000 employees) spend 2.5 times more on security than firms with over 20,000 employees.

When it comes to career challenges, most chief information security officers (71%) say their job is stressful. 33% of them are not satisfied with their current job, while 31% of them are not satisfied with their current compensation.
