It has a grooved grip and strain-reducing design

Mice may be capable of reaching a sensitivity, otherwise known as resolution in some circles, of over eight thousand DPI, but that's only necessary for hardcore gaming models. Also, wireless ones need to make some concessions.

Looking at it through that particular lens, the Edge Wireless Gaming Mouse from Satechi is a pretty reasonable piece of work.

Sure, it costs a bit more than some of you might be willing to pay for a random peripheral, but on the other hand, this is a wireless product, so there is some justification.

Besides, the price of $19.99 / €19.99 is pretty small compared to that of some monsters we've written about in the past. Especially since this is supposed to be a gaming device.

The Satechi Edge Wireless Gaming Mouse

Spec-wise, we're looking at a mouse with an adjustable sensitivity of 800, 1,600, 2,400 and 4,000 DPI, switchable in steps with the press of a single button.

On-the-fly precision modification is a staple of high-end peripherals everywhere, so Satechi couldn't have overlooked it, not in good conscience.

One of four different LED colors will shine from within the mouse depending on the DPI setting you select: red, green, purple or blue. You can totally turn them off though, if you want.

Moving on, the return rate of the Edge is of 250 Hz or 500 Hz, meaning that the response should be instantaneous despite the lack of physical cables connecting the thing to a computer.

Furthermore, the peripheral can enter a “Gaming Mode” in which the “Turbo Button” can enact a double-click function with a single press. The “Video Control Mode” is another option, which changes some of the mouse buttons to single-click play/pause, fast forward/backtrack and clear screen buttons.

The functions are spread across the seven high-function buttons located in the so-called hot zones of the device.

As for ease of use, Satechi gave its mouse naturally curved grooves, for comfortable and easy thumb control and finger clicks. There's even a grooved grip, for low strain while moving the peripheral just the amount of space needed for an in-game function.

Availability and pricing

The latter we've already mentioned: $19.99 / €19.99. As for the former, the Satechi Edge Wireless Gaming Mouse is shipping through the company's own website, as well as Amazon stores. A pair of AA batteries are included, capable of running for 36 months without recharge. The automatic sleep mode (after 5 idle minutes) helps there. Both PCs and Mac systems are supported.
