As some time has passed since the last D-Link product came out, the company decided to release another wireless device, one that can link a whole bunch of gadgets and PCs together.

As the title says, a dual-band router capable of Gigabit speeds has been released. It is called AC1200 Dual Band Gigabit Cloud Router DIR-850L.

Obviously, it operates over both the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands, since those are the wireless frequencies employed by Wi-Fi products.

The former is capable of transferring data at 300 Mbps, while the latter achieves 867 MB/s on a good day.

The rates will, of course, depend on device proximity and whether or not there are walls between router and whatever is accessing it.

AC1200 Dual Band Gigabit Cloud Router is more than just a Wi-Fi provider though. For convenience, there are four Gigabit Ethernet ports at the back as well.

We imagine that buyers would place the router near their PC and use a cable to hook the computer up to it, and maybe other systems in the household, but still use the Wi-Fi for smartphones, tablets, cameras, etc.

Speaking of which, there is a free app for iPhones, iPads and Android devices: mydlink Lite. It should be found on the Apple App Store and Google Play.

The SharePort mobile app should be downloaded as well, as it enables easier sharing of photos, movie, music files, etc.

Not only that, but the QRS Mobile app allows the router to be set up/installed/initialized straight from the mobile phone. This is good for when people are traveling and they don't have a PC (desktop/laptop) nearby to do it.

D-Link's Wireless AC1200 Dual Band Gigabit Cloud Router (DIR-850L) is selling for $129.99 / 101.41 Euro. Newegg is the online shop where it can be found.
