At the end of last week, Alive-Style announced the Popalive Remote, a wireless remote and dock set due for release in January 2007 for 149$. Why a remote for your iPod? Usually I would say "drop that, I don't need a remote for the iPod", but this time it's different. How's that? Well, the Popalive Remote is not just another remote, and I don't want you to take my words for granted, so let's check the features of this new Popalive product, shall we?

The main idea behind this device is to provide you bi-directional RF connectivity, allowing easy navigation through your iPod's content directly on your remote's LCD screen. This screen is a color 1.5inch LCD, and the remote that uses it is powered by a built in 350mAh Lithium Polymer Rechargeable battery which allows the device to be very small.

Remember the limitations of the IR remotes? Sometimes, the IR remotes I used made me think about replacing them with wired ones to save my curses for other situations, but now those days are gone! The Popalive Remote control communicates with the Popalive Dock with 908MHz/868MHz RF signal able to penetrate through walls, and the dock allows you to easily connect your iPod with additional multimedia devices and enjoy its music from a distance.

The Popalive Remote supports multilingual user interfaces, as well as multilingual song names, including English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Chinese, Japanese & Korean characters.

At last, if you think about the compatibility issues that may appear, I must tell you that Popalive Remote's dock includes 6 adapters for different iPods belonging to the fourth and the fifth generations. These being said, prepare for this excellent addition to your iPod, because there are only a few weeks until we'll be able to get our hands on the Popalive Remote...
