Are you tired of all the network cables lying around? I have only one network cable coming into my apartment, and I must confess that it would be much better without it, and I don't want to even think about large networks with lots of cables, because I've seen enough of those too... and I am not crazy at all about cables. Despite its lower transfer rates, the wireless connection is a good alternative, and today I have to tell you about a device built to help you go wireless in no time.

MacWireless launched its 11g USB Stick that offers wireless Internet connectivity to any Mac that has a free USB port. This device is compatible with Apple's AirPort Extreme, AirPort Express and AirTunes and offers a range of 100-300 feet indoors and 300-900 feet outdoors, but this range depends on the environment, of course.

When used with an USB 1.1 port, the connection speed can go up to 10Mbps, but it can go up to 54Mbps when the 11g USB Stick is connected to the computer's USB 2.0 port. The device is really easy to install and operate, getting its power from the USB port, so no additional power is needed.

The encryption types supported are WEP 64/128 and WPA TKIP, and this device supports AppleTalk, TCP/IP and other network protocols, working perfectly with Apple AirPort Base Stations including Extreme and Express, WiFi compliant Base Stations and othher 802.11b/g Acess Points.

The MacWireless 11g USB stick requires Mac OS X 10.3 or later, a free USB 1.1 or 2.0 port, and it's also compatible with Windows systems. When it comes to Apple computers, this device works with all iMacs, iBooks, PowerBooks and all the other Macs with built-in or added USB ports. I was just about to forget the price... so here you go: 80$. What do you think - it's worth the money or not?
