We already knew that Verizon Wireless is set to add to its offering a sequel to the highly popular DROID Incredible smartphone, but not confirmation on the matter emerged until now, when Wirefly announced that the handset would be put on pre-order on its website starting today, while expected to become available for purchase starting with April 28th.

On top of that, the retailer came up with a “faux” unboxing of the HTC DROID Incredible 2, which would still offer us some info on the device itself.

Apparently, all of the latest rumors on the availability of this device including the April 21st unveiling and the April 28th availability, would pan out, though we should still wait for Verizon to officially announce the new device.

For those out of the loop, we should note that the Incredible 2 is expected to land on Verizon's airwaves as the carrier's own version of the HTC Incredible S, which was unveiled during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

The device comes with a large 4-inch screen, 1GHz processor, an 8MP camera, WiFi, Bluetooth, and 3G connectivity, GPS receiver, microSD memory card slot with support for up to 32GB of additional storage space, and more.

It should prove a great replacement for last year's Incredible by HTC, which was already removed from Verizon's offering, but which would still receive OS upgrades, as previously reported.

Here's what Wirefly notes on its website:

The HTC DROID Incredible has been a successful phone for Verizon Wireless. Not only did it sell well, but it brought plenty of power to the already popular DROID brand.

With Android 2.2, a 1GHz processor and an 8-megapixel camera, the DROID Incredible had plenty of desirable features. A refresh to the DROID Incredible – the DROID Incredible 2 – is now available, and it has a four-inch screen and global operation capability.

You can view a “faux” unboxing of the HTC DROID Incredible 2, as well as a review of its features, in the video [below].

If we were to guess, we should say that Verizon would announce the availability of the new device in a matter of hours, and that the phone would go on pre-sales via more retailers.
