A lot of games and applications have received further support

On December 6, Alexandre Julliard announced a new development version of the Wine app, which brings assorted bug fixes and improvements.

As usual, the number of new features and bug fixes in the development version of Wine (Wine Is Not an Emulator) is quite large, even if we don’t take the important changes into account.

The current Wine release is not as large as the previous one, but it does feature fixes for a few games and various software

Wine 1.7.8 also brings bug fixes for the following Windows games and tools: Max Payne 2 Settlers of Catan, Artrage3 Studio Pro, RPG Maker VX, zMUD, Foobar2000, The Walking Dead, Age of Empires 2, StarCraft: Brood War, Resident Evil 3, Sigil 0.6.2, Fellowship One, Original War, League of Legends, and more.

Highlights of Wine 1.7.8:

• A few distinct version of the Mono package have been updated; • Various improvements have been implemented in the BITS service implementation; • Better data tables have been added for Japanese vertical fonts support; • Various backtraces on recent Mac OS X versions have been improved; • Mirror reflections are now working correctly for Max Payne 2; • Settlers of Catan now runs at the proper speed; • A Runtime error in RPG Maker VX has been fixed; • Ignition display no longer hangs when changing resolution; • foobar2000 no longer needs SHELL32.dll; • The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct is now working properly; • Age of Empires 2 Conquerors is now playable; • The performance of StarCraft: Brood War has been improved; • The intense screen flickering in Original War has been corrected.
