On August 30, Alexandre Julliard announced a new development version of the Wine app, which brings assorted bug fixes and improvements.

After releasing a major version only a short while ago, 1.6.0, the Wine developers started work on the next branch and this is the second version in 1.7.x.

According to the developers, support has been added for keyed event objects, for the "init once" synchronization mechanism, and for loading 32-bit typelibs on 64-bit systems.

Also, activation context support has been implemented for DLLs, typelibs, and COM classes, and a number of games, including Starcraft II, are now working better.

More details about this release can be found in the official changelog. Download Wine 1.7.1 right now from Softpedia.

Remember that this is a development release and it should NOT be installed on production machines. It is intended to be used for testing purposes only.
