Wine 1.4 RC2, a new development version of the famous framework used to run Windows applications on Linux, has been announced by Alexandre Julliard, the leader of the Wine project.

This version is the second release candidate for the Wine 1.4 branch and represents an important milestone in the development of Wine (Wine Is Not an Emulator). The complete changelog can be found here. Here are some of the important changes:

· Update only the key state on KeymapNotify without sending fake key events; · A separate flag for discarded surfaces is now used; · English strings from the Hungarian shell folder translations were removed; · INFINITE as number of effect iterations is now supported; · Underrun handling was improved; · Numerous bug fixes.

Download Wine 1.4 RC2 right now from Softpedia. Remember that this is a development release and it should NOT be installed on production machines. It is intended to be used for testing purposes only.
