The dying Windows XP will receive an important update on Patch Tuesday, as part of a cycle that does not include critical fixes, but only important patches aimed at Windows and other software.

According to an advance security notification rolled out by Microsoft last week, the company will also fix a zero-day flaw in Windows XP that allowed an attacker to run malicious code on a vulnerable computer due to a flaw in Adobe Reader.

The glitch has already been fixed in the latest versions of Adobe Reader, so users who updated their clients should be on the safe side.

Windows XP is projected to be discontinued on April 8, 2014, but with 28 percent of desktop computers worldwide still running it, it’s hard to believe that all users would complete the transition to a newer platform in time.
