Windows XP remains the second top operating system in the world and third-party statistics indicate that only a few users actually care about Microsoft’s nearing end-of-support date.

At this point, Windows XP is powering 19.44 percent of computers worldwide, according to data provided by market researcher StatCounter for the first 18 days of November.

Windows 7 is obviously still leading the charts with 51.8 percent, while Windows 8 comes third with a market share of 7.54 percent.

Microsoft has promised earlier this year that only 13 percent of the users would actually stick to Windows XP beyond its retirement date, but the percentage could actually be higher, as the aging platform remains a very popular choice right now.

Obviously, Microsoft points to the security risks of using an unpatched system as the main reason why you should upgrade, with Windows 8.1 promoted as the best choice for all users.
