The participants in previous Windows XP Embedded Community Technology Previews, including Feature Pack 2007 and Image Difference Engine, should have already received emails from Microsoft informing them of a new Community Technology Preview for Windows XP Embedded for a few weeks now.

Following those emails, Microsoft has made available Windows XP Embedded Service Pack 2 feature Preview 2008. With the CTP Windows XP Embedded SP2 users will be able to test Windows Media Player 11, Internet Explorer 7, .NET 3.0 Framework, Remote Desktop Protocol 6.0, or User-Mode Driver Framework (UMDF).

"In addition to the new features included in Feature Preview 2008 there have also been some bug fixes and functional enhancements made to File Based Write Filter ( additional disk size reporting option) and to USB Boot (Improved power management)," revealed a member of the Windows XPe team.

You will be able to download Windows XP Embedded SP2 Feature Preview 2008 from the Microsoft Connect website after you sign in. Considering that you have already participated in a previous CTP program, you will only have to sign in at Connect with a valid Windows Live ID. In the left menu access Available Connections and simply navigate your way to Windows XP Embedded and apply for the CTP.

"We ask that you please allocate time in your busy schedules to download, try out, and give us your valuable feedback on "Feature Preview 2008" prior to March 23rd, 2007 in order to allow us enough time to review your feedback and possibly incorporate it into the final product," added the XPe member.
