Windows Vista gets on the bus is a literal expression. It is actually on a coach that Microsoft is using to promote the operating system across select locations in the United States. The Windows Vista Coach tour was announced by Nick White, Microsoft Product Manager, four days ago. As part of the "Wow starts now" marketing campaign, the Redmond Company has decided to bring the Wow to the users instead of the other way around.
Between 16 and 24 January, Microsoft and AMD have joined forces on the Vista coach that will be visiting Nashville, Lexington, Cincinnati, Columbus, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Washington, DC, Charlotte, Savannah, Jacksonville, Orlando, Gainesville and Atlanta. Nick White also promised that the coach will make various pit stops at locations across the way, from Nashville/Lexington/Cincinnati/Columbus to Athens/Nashville. "Some of you have noticed that we're now moving, per the Bus Tour Gadget. Indeed we are. After recovering from yesterday's typical airline snafus of inordinate flight delays (all of us were affected) and lost luggage (2 of us were affected), and battling some extremely cold weather, the coach showed up at our hotel late in the morning and we got our first glimpse of what will be our home during the waking hours for the next 8 days," revealed Nick White.
The adjacent pictures, also courtesy of Nick White, feature both the inside and the outside of the Windows Vista bus. At the exterior, you might recognize the design from the Windows Vista energy theme. Also, you are able to see why I said that Microsoft and AMD joined forces.
Today, January 17, the vista Bus will go through Cincinnati, Columbus and onward to Pittsburgh. "Noon: stop for lunch at the Prime outlets outside Jeffersonville - mid-afternoon: Ohio State University campus - evening and/or Thursday AM: Pittsburgh," White said.
