The video card producers are anxiously waiting for the new Microsoft operating system, Windows Vista. As DigiTimes informs, an increasing number of beta testers have confirmed that Windows Vista works smoothly on video card with 256 MB of RAM.

That is why video card producers have concluded that the introduction of Windows Vista will lead to an increase in demand for these models, especially the high-end ones. Since the official introduction of Windows Vista is one year away, the producers consider that in 2006 they will sell much more middle-range and high-end models. This trend might also be accompanied by their cheapening.

Microsoft hasn't released the list of hardware requirements a system should meet in order to run Windows Vista, but rumors say that 1GB of RAM will be required for a smooth experience.

In conclusion, the memory producers should also prepare for an increase in sales. Unofficial information says that Windows Vista will even require 2GB of RAM for 64 bit operations.

Gartner has warned that these hardware requirements could be a stalling factor for the migration towards Windows Vista, especially within companies.
