Windows Vista RC2 Coming October 6

As the Redmond Company has closed the download window for Windows Vista postRC1 Build 5728, and with RC1 still active, Microsoft has debuted internal testing of Release Candidate 2. The US software giant has announced that it will not ship a RC2, an in this context, Brad Goldberg, the general manager for the Windows client business group has revealed recently that Microsoft plans the release of one final build of Vista before the code goes gold. However, Goldberg failed to confirm if the upcoming build will be referred to as Release Candidate 2.

On Friday, October 6, Microsoft will make available Windows Vista Build 5743, or Release Candidate 2. But, despite the RC2 tag, the build is a standard interim that follows the footsteps of version 5728 and not an actual release candidate. Proof of this will be delivered by the availability range. And Microsoft plans to release Build 5743 only to a limited pool of beta testers, subscribers of MSDN and TechNet and a select few members of Consumer Preview Program. Goldberg has previously stated that the number of downloads will be situated between 50,000 and 100,000, following which the build's availability will be discontinued.

Microsoft is currently keeping quiet about the pre-release to manufacturing build 5728, and consequently additional details are scarce.
