Microsoft has stated on various occasions that it is happy with the market performances of Windows Vista. According to the Redmond Company, Vista is outperforming Windows XP, just as it was initially forecasted. The adoption rate of Windows Vista is increasing with each month, and the trend is international. The latest sales results that have come out of Korea come to support this perspective.

Microsoft Korea revealed that the operating system has failed to gather dust on the shelves. As a matter of fact, in Korea, Microsoft has passed the half a million sold licenses since the debut of Windows Vista on the local market. Chosun reports that, from the end of January and until April 2007, over 500,000 genuine copies of Windows Vista have found their way onto Korean computers.

Reports surrounding the actual volume of Windows Vista licenses sold are contradictory, with different third-parties denying the strong sales applauded by Microsoft. However, the Redmond Company revealed that in excess of 20 million licenses of Windows Vista were indeed shipped only the operating system's first month of availability. In this context, Microsoft has managed to achieve its goals to outsell Windows XP by two to one, backing up the Vista sales is an international Wow marketing campaign worth an estimated $500 million dollars.

Data made public by Microsoft Korea indicate that Vista sales have been accelerating. 100,000 copies were sold in February, and this figure increased to 160,000 licenses the next month. Still, April delivered the most spectacular explosion in Vista sales on the Korean market, with the operating system doubling the number of shipment from March, to over 250,000 items.

Windows Vista is currently the forth most popular operating system in the world, at just over three months since its launch. Accounting for a market share of 3.02%, Vista is trailing Windows XP, Windows 2000 and Mac OS X.
