Windows Vista will change the way users interact with media. Via Windows Vista Home Premium and Windows Vista Ultimate, users will be able to watch DVDs, HD DVDs and Blu Rays, listen to music, watch and record HDTV, view digital images and even integrate their Xbox 360 with the operating system.

"Enjoy your entire digital entertainment library in full glory on your PC or even on your TV with Windows Media Center. View your photos in a cinematic slide show, browse your music collection by cover art, easily play DVDs, watch and record TV shows, download movies, and project your home videos-then pass the remote to let friends and family join in the fun," reads a fragment of the Media Center features integrated into Windows Vista.

The home premium and Ultimate Media Center is an evolved version of the Windows XP Media center Edition. Users will be able to see and touch the difference in the new graphical user interface and visualization. From the minute you finish deploying Windows Vista, the operating system will index all the media content on your machine.

Through CableCARD Support Vista, users will be able to watch and record HDTV. Also, Windows Media Center and Xbox 360 integrate seamlessly with one another, and via the TV Tuner card, users can access all the functionality of Windows Media Center using the Xbox 360 console.

"After you've started, you will notice that Windows Media Center is optimized for widescreen and HD displays-making it perfect for the living room. With the new on-screen layout of photos, music, and videos, you can see up to three times more content on a widescreen display compared to previous versions of Windows Media Center," Microsoft added.

Windows Media Center in Vista Home Premium and Ultimate allows users to access content in HotStart mode, without the whole operating system having to boot. Additionally, an entire range of remote controls have been prepared for Media Center, contributing to the comfort that Vista will deliver to your living room.
