And Apple loves it

Since its commercial debut, Windows Vista has been plagued with compatibility issues. Apple was a brand that generated headlines when iTunes users discovered that Windows Vista was off limits to them. Now, just to add insult to injury, Apple has published a Windows Vista incompatibility list.

Apple informed that its software applications are restricted to run only on specific versions of Windows. In this context, the company published a list with the software applications and the corresponding Windows operating systems they are designed for. Not a single one of Apple's products is compatible with Windows Vista.

This is just bad publicity for Microsoft, due to the fact that the user's perception is that Windows Vista is at fault. Apple managed to put up a list of the software that is designed for Windows together with the compatibility information, but the truth of the matter is that Apple has done its best to ignore Windows Vista.

If Apple software is not compatible with Vista, then Apple is just as much to blame as Microsoft is. The Redmond Company has over 30,000 device drivers available when it shipped Vista to the general audience. None of the 30,000 drivers are related to Apple products. Maybe Apple should have better managed the time they allocated to "Get a Mac" commercials... just for the sake of delivering basic compatibility.

Along with iTunes, here are the other Apple applications that are not Vista compatible: QuickTime, Apple Software Update for Windows, iPod shuffle Reset Utility, Bonjour for Windows, AirPort for Windows, Standalone iPod Updater (for iTunes 6), iDisk Utility and AppleWorks for Windows.
