Tim Sneath, Windows Vista Technical Evangelist has added two more posts describing the Copy as a Path command and a way to bring back the Start / Run in Windows Vista. “Ever wanted to copy
a link from a network file share into an email, and wound up having to traverse the path, click on the address bar, copy the details out, paste it in and then type the filename itself (with the appropriate quotation marks,” Sneath asked, and also provided the response. If while right-clicking on a folder in windows Vista the shift key is pressed, the context sensitive menu that pops up comprises the Copy as Path option that functions for both file and folders and is an easy way to create a shortcut.
Sneath also commented on the overhauling of the Start menu and how its revamping includes the removal of the Run option. In this context, Sneath explained that the feature was not scraped completely as it is accessible via the Win+R shortcut key combination in Vista. The Start menu in Vista has at its center stage the Start Search bar at the bottom, but the Run option is no longer in the default configuration. This aspect can be fixed. “Right-click on the Start menu and choose Properties; Select the Start Menu tab and click on the Customize... button; Ensure the "Run command" option is checked. Now the Start / Run command will be restored to its full glory,” revealed Sneath.
