Windows Vista Hardware Compatibility List

- From Microsoft

By: Marius Oiaga, Technology News Editor

The Windows Vista Hardware Compatibility List is exactly what it claims to be. A comprehensive taxonomic enumeration of Devices and Systems that are fully compatible with
Windows Vista. However, the Windows Vista Hardware Compatibility List is limited to the only systems and devices that have been logo’d via the Microsoft Windows Vista Logo program.

Microsoft has published the Windows Vista Hardware Compatibility List and users will be able to navigate a plethora of hardware products that fully support Windows Vista. Audio components, TV Tuner Cards, USB Hubs and Video Cards are at the top of the list. Microsoft also delivers information on the Digital Cameras and Webcams compatible with Windows Vista. Digitizers, keyboards, Media Center remote controls, monitors, projectors, SideShow auxiliary displays, network cards, rooters printers, scanners and hard drives that have received one of the Windows Vista logos can also be found on Microsoft's list.

Microsoft is also offering a tiered experience with the hardware compatible with Windows Vista. Basic Logo for basic experiences and Premium Logo for premium experiences are the two layers through which customers will guide their purchase decisions.

"Products with these Basic Logos have been tested to pass Microsoft standards of compatibility, reliability, and security and will work with all PCs running Windows Vista. In addition to passing Microsoft standards of compatibility, reliability, and security, products with these Premium Logos take advantage of Windows Vista features and provide the richest PC experience possible," Microsoft revealed.

Microsoft is allowing users to navigate the Windows Vista Hardware Compatibility List via the hardware categories on a drop down menu or through text search according to the names of the products.
