Windows DreamScene Technical Preview has been available for Windows Vista Ultimate users since mid February. Although it has failed to deliver the final version in concert with the operating system's commercial availability, Microsoft offered the pre-release version via Windows Update. The Technical Preview marked the final testing stage of the technology that will enable Ultimate users to use videos as their desktop background.

Following the release of the DreamScene Technical Preview, the Redmond Company delivered a video content pack designed to integrate with Vista Ultimate. "Windows DreamScene is currently available only as a preview version, but many of you have chosen to install it. In recognition of your interest, we accelerated our schedule to release a Content Pack that contains four video backgrounds, which are now available on Windows Update," explained the Windows Vista Ultimate team.

"A field of thistle, with a bee gathering pollen," The rushing water of a forest stream," "A streetlamp reflected in a puddle, with softly falling rain" and "Orange wisps flowing in a computer-generated scene" are the four videos included in the DreamScene Content Pack.

As of now, Microsoft informed that it will only push the content pack to users that have installed Windows DreamScene Preview. The rest of Ultimate users will be permitted access to the video backgrounds in this content pack once the final version of DreamScene is released.

"Don't worry about installing the preview just so you can obtain them. The preview version is an unsupported release; it is not appropriate for users who are uncomfortable with installing prerelease software. If you've installed the Windows DreamScene Preview, click Check for updates in Windows Update to see the Content Pack, which is offered as an Ultimate Extra," added the Windows Vista Ultimate team.
