Microsoft SoftGrid Application Virtualization, Asset Inventory Service, Advanced Group Policy Management, Diagnostics and Recovery Toolset and System Center Desktop Error Monitoring are all the Dynamic Desktop Solutions provided by Microsoft via the Desktop Optimization Pack for Software Assurance customers. On June 29, the Redmond company made available for download the Windows Vista Optimized Desktop Program Datasheets.

In October 2006, Microsoft announced plans to bundle no less than four solutions from Softricity, Winternals, DesktopStandard and AssetMetrix under the Windows Vista Desktop Optimization Pack umbrella. The package of desktop management technologies was addressed from the get go exclusively to Software Assurance customers, which have had access to Windows Vista Enterprise since the operating system's business launch at the end of November 2006.

Microsoft only managed to deliver on its promise with the Windows Vista Desktop Optimization Pack this month. Yesterday, July 1, 2006, the complete version of the Desktop Optimization Pack was made available to SA clients. In the meantime, the Redmond Company even added a fifth component to the package: the System Center Desktop Error Monitoring. Ultimately, the collection of dynamic desktop solutions is designed to work hand in hand with Windows Vista in order to help reduce the total cost of ownership of the operating system.
