Just to be clear, debugging is a process that involves identifying and resolving or bypassing errors located in computer program code. Now Microsoft is making available for download a collection of debugging tools that will enable users to mitigate bugs in Windows Vista. However, the tools are by no means limited to just the latest operating system from Microsoft and will integrate seamlessly with a range of Windows platforms.

Windows NT 4.0, Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, Windows Vista, and Windows Server codename "Longhorn" are all supported by the Debugging Tools for Windows version 6.7.5.0. According to the Redmond Company, users will be able to address issues in drivers, applications, and services running on the Windows platforms mentioned above but also on the operating systems themselves. Microsoft is delivering the Debugging Tools for Windows package for 32-bit x86, Intel Itanium, and x64 platforms.

"Debugging Tools for Windows is a set of extensible tools for debugging device drivers for the Microsoft Windows family of operating systems. Debugging Tools for Windows supports debugging of: applications, services, drivers, and the Windows kernel, native 32-bit x86, native Intel Itanium, and native x64 platforms, Microsoft Windows NT 4.0, Windows 2000, Windows XP, Microsoft Windows Server 2003, and Windows Vista, user-mode programs and kernel-mode programs, live targets and dump files and local and remote targets," informed Microsoft.
