Although Microsoft is referring to the piracy of Windows Vista as purely "speculative," not only are cracked copies of all the operating system's editions available for download via peer-to-peer network
but illegal Windows Vista Key Management Service (KMS) servers have also emerged enabling the activation of Vista Enterprise via Volume Activation 2.0.
Additionally, a new download highly circulated delivers the promise of being a general activation crack for all the editions of the operating system. "Windows Vista All Versions Activation 21.11.06" is in fact no such thing. The download is not a crack and it does not provide a key generator.
"Windows Vista All Versions Activation 21.11.06" is a Trojan horse carrier that installs Trojan-PSW.Win32.LdPinch.aze. Offering a universal crack for Windows Vista is just part of the social engineering scheme designed to lure in victims. In this manner, the P2P users hoping to put their hands on a crack for Windows Vista will end up being cracked.
This is not a first for Microsoft. The "devils0wn" pirated key welcomed the release of Windows XP a month prior to the release of the operating system. "Windows Vista All Versions Activation 21.11.06" just follows in the footsteps of what has become a tradition.
Recently, both
Symantec and Sophos have reported that Windows Vista can be successfully compromised by existing items of malicious code. According to Sophos,
three of the most widespread malware instances worldwide can successfully execute and infect Windows Vista. Microsoft has confirmed the reports issued by Symantec and Sophos, but defended Vista claiming that the operating system can only be compromised via third-party products or social engineering.
