Consumers are reporting issues when trying to install the latest Patch Tuesday fixes

Microsoft has recently released this month’s Patch Tuesday updates, fixing flaws in Windows, Internet Explorer, and Office for all versions of the operating system.

Users are reporting via Microsoft’s Community forums that Windows Update fails to install November 2013 patches, explaining that they are getting unexpected errors when trying to download them.

“Every time I run Windows Update, either on the desktop or tiled interface, it gives a 80244FFF error. It is able to download and install Windows Defender definition updates,” one user has reported on the forums.

At this point, there’s no official fix available and consumers claim that they have already tried several workarounds with no luck.

“I've tried turning off Windows Defender and firewall, plugging my PC directly into the cable modem, trying Safe Mode (Which doesn't allow Windows Update to run), scanning all my drives for errors, and disconnecting all my hard drives except the boot drive but nothing has worked,” the same user continues.

The easiest solution to this problem is to install all Patch Tuesday updates manually, but this obviously takes more time and doesn’t come in really handy to beginners and less experienced users.

It’s not yet clear whether this is a widespread problem or it’s only happening on a limited number of computers, but we’ve received reports that Windows XP, 7, and 8.1 users are all getting the same or a similar error.

For example, other reports point to an 80070422 error when trying to run Windows Update, again with no workaround solving the issues.

“I've been getting this error message recently and now Windows is incapable of updating. I've done the fix-it and I've followed all the instruction in the Microsoft Help asking me to go into services and checking to make sure the settings are correct,” one bug report reads.

Microsoft is yet to provide more information on these issues, so we’ll update the article when and if get more details on this.
