Market Share via Net applications has revealed that Microsoft supremacy on the operating systems' market is increasing in the detriment of Macintosh. According to the statistics released by
Market Share on September 22, Windows XP has been on a continuous ascendant trend since September 2005. The same metrics indicate a stagnant evolution of the Mac OS.
In this context, while Windows XP has grown from a 76.36% of the operating systems' market in September 2005 to a share of 84.18% in August 2006, the Mac OS has experienced a 0.03% drop, when taking into account the same periods. But, the more recent evolution of the Mac OS points out a descendant tendency as it has dropped from a high of 4.29% in March 2006 to 3.80% in July and further down to a market share of 3.71% in August 2006.
Windows XP growth can be easily explained when taking into consideration the market performance of additional operating systems from the Redmond Company. In this regard, Windows 2000, Windows ME and Windows 98 have all diminished their presence on the market. The obvious conclusion in this case is that users of one of these three operating systems have upgraded, thus driving the growth of Windows XP.
