Want to help improve localized versions of the Windows operating system? Then Microsoft is willing to hear your input on the terminology used for the platform in no less than 25 languages. Microsoft’s Palle Petersen revealed that the software giant is looking for feedback on Windows translations for a total of 25 languages.

Obviously, it would be best for those that supply feedback to Microsoft to be native speakers of the language, although, their input will be accepted regardless.

I’m more than sure that customers around the world have come across certain terminology translations in Windows that they felt could do with a tad of improving.

The Windows localization team is more than interested in hearing what they have to say in this regard.

At the bottom of this article users will find a list of the 25 languages for which the software giant is requiring terminology feedback. Each item on that list links to a page where user input can be shared with Microsoft.

“To get started, click your language and sign in with your Windows Live ID,” Petersen explained.

“Once you’ve signed in and registered, simply click the Glossary link. You will see the list of English source terms and equivalent translations for your language. You can approve or vote for the specific translations, comment on them or propose new ones via Suggest a Translation or Vote.”

According to Petersen time to provide feedback is rather limited. Users have roughly until the end of this month to suggest to Microsoft better translations for terminology used in Windows.

“The forums will remain open for feedback until 28 March,” he added.

“The lists contain a number of selected terms we’ve received mixed feedback on already, but is not exhaustive. If a term is not in the list, you can still provide feedback via the Language Portal feedback page.”
