Microsoft’s Windows Summit 2010 is an event that will be dedicated to hardware and software developers that have so far failed to start building on top of the latest iterations of Windows and Internet Explorer. According to information made public by the Redmond company, the summit will be focused on Windows 7 and Internet Explorer 8, rather than on their successors, Windows 8 and IE9. Still, while Win8 is still in the distance, the IE9 Platform Preview is already here, and perhaps attendees will be able to tap Microsoft for additional insight on the next major iteration of IE. After all, the first build of IE9 was delivered in mid-March 2010, and the software giant promised that the next release of the Windows Internet Explorer Platform Preview was scheduled for eight weeks later, namely for mid-May.

“This is a special opportunity to learn—straight from the Windows team—how you can best use Windows 7 and Internet Explorer to enable great solutions for your customers. This three day event takes place at the Microsoft Conference Center on Microsoft's campus in Redmond, WA and is designed for people who engineer and test Windows 7 PCs, devices, and software. Take advantage of this uniquely intimate event on the Microsoft campus to network with Microsoft technical experts and leaders at breakout sessions, chalk talks, and an Ask the Experts evening and social event,” Microsoft’s description of the event reads. Windows Summit 2010 will be held between May 25–27 and the registration fee is $399. According to the software giant, the event will be keynoted by Michael Angiulo, general manager Windows Planning and PC Ecosystem teams Microsoft. The company notes that system implementers, as well as software developers and hardware manufacturers are welcomed to attend and see how Windows 7 and IE8 can help them deliver better products to customers.

“Understand the features of Windows 7 that you can leverage to create and deliver the best system possible,” Microsoft stated. “Discover the rich customization features in Windows 7 that enables partners to create a custom user experience for the PC or device. (…)The Windows 7 platform makes it easy for developers to create engaging, user-friendly applications by providing familiar tools and rich development features that allow them to take advantage of the latest PC capabilities.”
