Microsoft customers can grab a fix from the company, designed to correct daylight saving time (DST) for UNIX-related technologies in the software giant’s products. A
hotfix is currently up for grabs from Microsoft Support for users leveraging such Windows components as Windows Services for UNIX and utilities and software development kits (SDKs) for Subsystem for UNIX-based Applications (SUA).
“This hotfix also updates the time zone information to reflect current governmental DST settings for Microsoft Windows operating systems. Additionally, this hotfix addresses DST changes that were updated in the previous cumulative updates. We recommend that you install the latest DST update for your operating system,” Microsoft
stated.
The hotfix offered by Microsoft is designed to deliver a cumulative daylight saving time update for no less than nine time zones. Customers will be able to leverage the hotfix if they are running software products such as: Windows Services for UNIX 3.0, Windows Services for UNIX 3.5, Subsystem for UNIX-based Applications in Windows Server 2003 R2, Subsystem for UNIX-based Applications in Windows Vista, Subsystem for UNIX-based Applications in Windows Server 2008, Subsystem for UNIX-based Applications in Windows 7, and Subsystem for UNIX-based Applications in Windows Server 2008 R2.
According to Microsoft “This hotfix incorporates a cumulative daylight saving time (DST) update for the following time zones:
- N. Central Asia Standard Time - Almaty is moved from the N. Central Asia Standard Time time zone to the Central Asia Standard Time time zone.
- Central Brazil Standard Time - The DST start date and the DST end date are adjusted.
- South America Standard Time - The DST start date and the DST end date are adjusted.
- Egypt Standard Time - The DST start date and the DST end date are adjusted.
- Georgian Standard Time - This time zone is changed from (GMT+03:00) to (GMT+4:00). This time zone does not use DST.
- Israel Standard Time - The DST start date and the DST end date are adjusted.
- North Asia East Standard Time - “Ulaan Batar” is removed from the display name for this time zone.
- Paraguay Standard Time - The DST start date and the DST end date are adjusted.
- Ulaanbaatar Standard Time - The new Ulaanbaatar time zone that does not have DST. The display name is (GMT+08:00) Ulaanbaatar.”
