Windows Server Home and Windows Live Drive

- To drop in 2007

By: Marius Oiaga, Technology News Editor

The fact that both Windows Server Home and Windows Live Drive are scheduled for availability in 2007 has not been officially conformed by the Redmond Company, but Zack Whittaker, a Microsoft
contract employee via MSBlog did reveal this and additional details in a blog post that has since then been pulled.

At CES 2007 conference in January 2007 in Las Vegas, Microsoft is expected to announced the debut of a new solution already advertised as: "All together now. Announcing a new way to share, protect, and store what matters most. January 2007." The Redmond Company has kept quiet over the whole deal, but speculations are pointing to the release of Windows Server Home and Windows Live Drive in the coming year.

Whittaker confirmed that Microsoft will launch the Windows Server Home in 2007, although the final name of the product will differ. The Windows Server home will be a server designed for the household that will come with advanced sharing, media and gaming capabilities over a home network. Shared Media Center and direct integration with Windows Live Drive via Windows Vista and with Xbox 360 consoles are additional aspects rumored to be a part of the Windows Server Home. Moreover, rough descriptions of the Windows Server Home reveal that it will deliver all the functionality, features and capabilities of Windows Vista Premium with the server facilities and Windows Live Media Center on top.

Whether Windows Server Home will be announced at At CES 2007 conference in January 2007 in Las Vegas is still unclear. Microsoft is expected to reveal Windows Live Drive at the event, although the online storage service based on server farms will not be released for testing in January 2007.
