Along with Windows 8, Microsoft is expected to make available its Windows Server 8 during the ongoing year, and some new info on it emerged.

During the past few months, there has been a lot of hype around Windows 8 and the features and capabilities it should bring along on both mobile devices (read tablets) and desktop PCs.

Windows Server 8 (which, by all means, is only a codename for the time being) was left aside a bit, though work on it moved forth as well.

Apparently, Microsoft is currently pushing the beta builds of Windows Server 8 to testers, though only internally.

WinUnleaked has just posted a shot of the beta version of Windows Server Code Named 8, though it shows only an installation screen and there are not too many details on the platform available through it.

However, the site claims that there are a wide range of changes that Microsoft has included in the new beta release.

The latest Windows Server 8 builds bring along a refreshed dashboard UI, complemented by new features and clearer code, among other improvements.

No info on when the platform could be delivered to Microsoft’s customers in a beta version has emerged for now, but we would not be too surprised if it landed sometime in February.

The Developer Preview of Windows Server 8 was made available in September, only a few days after the Windows 8 client was put up for download at Microsoft.

Since Windows 8 and Windows Server 8 are closely related, the beta flavor of the latter is expected to be pushed via MSDN in late February, soon after the desktop client is released in beta as well.

Windows Server 8 is expected to arrive with a great deal of new features that enterprises would take advantage of to build private cloud services. It will deliver increased flexibility, interoperability, and support for public clouds.
