On August 1st, in addition to unveiling the RTM flavor of Windows 8, Microsoft announced that its Windows Server 2012 operating system has been released to manufacturing.

The code for the platform has been completed, and Microsoft customers all around the world will be able to purchase it starting with September 4th, 2012.

At the moment, the Redmond-based software giant is gearing up to provide its hardware and software vendor partners with access to the code this week.

“I’m proud to announce that Windows Server 2012 has been released to manufacturing,” Jeffrey Snover, Microsoft Windows Server, notes in a blog post.

“That means the final code is complete and we are delivering it to our hardware and software vendor partners this week. We will also make the software available to our volume licensing customers in the next couple of weeks.”

On September 4th, Windows Server 2012 will become available for evaluation and purchase for all customers around the world, Microsoft announced.

The company plans to hold an online launch event, offering executives, engineers, customers, and partners the possibility to share more on the new platform and on how it can help companies take advantage of Cloud OS.

“You will be able to learn more about the features and capabilities and connect with experts and peers. You’ll also be able to collect points along the way for the chance to win some amazing prizes. You don’t want to miss it,” Jeffrey Snover continues.

Those who would like to participate should head over to the Windows Server 2012 launch page to get the inside scoop on the product.

Windows Server 2012 is seen as the cornerstone of any modern datacenter, since it can provide organizations with the possibility to get the most out of private and hybrid cloud computing.

“With the launch of Windows Server 2012, Microsoft is ushering in the era of the Cloud OS, and encouraging customers to realize the benefits of the cloud today to build a solid foundation for their future,” a post on the STB News Bytes Blog reads.
