On June 30, 2009 Microsoft released not only the remaining localized versions of Windows Vista Service Pack 2 to web and through Windows Update, but also those for Windows Server 2008 SP2. Essentially, Vista SP2 RTM and Windows Server 2008 SP2 RTM have been bundled together in the same package. And with the Multilingual User Interface Language Packs available for Vista SP2 Enterprise and Ultimate SKUs, the Redmond company is also offering the MUI Language Packs for the editions of Windows Server 2008 SP2 RTM.

“Grouped Language Pack Media (Windows Server 2008 SP2 Language Packs) enables a multilingual user interface in a Windows Server 2008 SP2 environment. Adding one or more language packs to a Windows Server 2008 SP2 image enables one or more languages in the installed Windows Server 2008 SP2 operating system. This enables corporations to deploy the same Windows Server 2008 SP2 image worldwide while still providing localized user interfaces,” Microsoft explained.

Microsoft is offering for download no less than 12 packages containing Windows Server 2008 SP2 RTM. The Redmond company explained that it had grouped individual language packs into .ISO images. Customers interested in having multilingual user interface language packs installed in Windows Server 2008 SP2 RTM will discover that the .ISO images deliver .CAB files. The Multilingual User Interface Language Packs enable those running Windows Server 2008 SP2 RTM to install multiple languages for a specific platform and allow users to seamlessly switch between them.

For the 32-bit and 64-bit editions of Windows Server 2008 SP2 RTM the following languages are supported: English, German, Japanese, French, Spanish, Chinese Simplified, Chinese Hong Kong, Korean, Portuguese (Brazil), Italian, Russian, Portuguese (Portugal), Dutch, Swedish, Polish, Turkish, Czech, Hungarian, Arabic, Danish, Norwegian, Finnish, Hebrew, Greek, Thai, Ukrainian, Romanian, Slovakian, Slovenian, Croatian, Serbian Latin, Bulgarian, Lithuanian, Latvian, Estonian. The Itanium (IA-64) Language Packs support only English, German, Japanese, French, Chinese Simplified, and Korean.
