One of the features that the owners of Windows Phone smartphones might soon get the chance to enjoy on their devices is a Swype-like soft keyboard, something that Android users have had for a long time now.

According to The Verge’s Tom Warren, Windows Phone will indeed receive said Swype-style keyboard, though no specific info on when it might be released has been provided, as this thread on Reddit unveils.

By the looks of it, Windows Phone 8.1 might be the platform version to feature this capability, in addition to packing various UI changes and improved functionality.

As WMPoweruser notes, Android users seem very fond of the Swype gesture-based keyboard, and Windows Phone users are dreaming of it as well. In fact, the feature has seen almost 3,000 votes on the WP User Voice website.

Microsoft has yet to officially confirm any perks set to be included in the upcoming Windows Phone 8.1 update, so stay tuned for more on the matter.
