Britons who are using Cortana on their Windows Phones to keep things organized should start seeing the evening reminders these days, as Microsoft is now rolling out a new pack of improvements in the United Kingdom.

As Reddit user Inhopeless writes today, Cortana is now showing evening reminders to Windows Phone customers in the United Kingdom, but some could not get them just yet, as the update is being released to users gradually.

As a reminder, in the United Kingdom, Cortana is only available on phones registered for the Developer Preview program and running the latest version of Windows Phone, but also on new phones featuring Lumia Denim, such as Lumia 830 and 735.

The feature was announced by Microsoft last week and in the United States it should already be available to the majority of Windows Phone users, while the other markets are getting it in the coming weeks.

What are evening reminders?

As you most likely know if you’re an avid Cortana fan, Microsoft’s personal assistant for Windows Phone provides a daily glance every morning, informing you about your appointments, news, weather forecast, traffic to your office and stock information.

Starting with this new rollout, Cortana can also show evening reminders, which is very similar to the daily glance, but only provides information about your evening appointments and things you need to do early in the morning.

As Microsoft said in an announcement on October 17, in order to provide evening reminders, Cortana must know your home and office addresses, so make sure you update both in case you want to see these.

Cortana for PC in the works as well

As anyone can see, Cortana is becoming a much more powerful feature these days, with improvements arriving on Windows Phone on a regular basis.

But at the same time, Microsoft is also working to bring the personal assistant on PCs, and Windows 10 could be the very first version of the operating system that could bring Cortana on the desktop.

The original Windows 10 Technical Preview build 9841 already included references to a PC version of Cortana, but the feature is still in early development stages, so it could take a while until it becomes available.

Sources say that a limited number of Microsoft employees are already using it for testing purposes, but the company is trying to keep details secret to make sure that no information leaks on the web ahead of the public launch.
