Last month, at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, Microsoft and its partners announced a range of handsets running under a new flavor of Windows Phone, codenamed Tango.

The new platform release came with support for lower hardware configurations, thus bringing the Windows Phone OS in the hands of more people out there.

Today, we learn that the first custom ROMs built on the Windows Phone 7.5 Tango platform are available for download.

At the moment, only two devices are supported, namely the HTC HD2 (which was launched a few years ago with Windows Mobile 6.5 on board) and the Samsung Omnia 7 (one of the first new Windows phones).

The owners of any of these smartphones interested in getting a taste of a fully unlocked platform should head over to the ZDA-Developers forum to learn more on them and download the files. This thread is dedicated to HD2, while details on Omnia 7 are available via this link.
