There’s no doubt that Windows Phone is enjoying increased sales in various markets around the world, and the latest reports coming from Romania confirm that once again.

A report from market research company GfK (via ZF) shows that sales of Windows Phone devices in the country are higher than those of Apple’s iPhone handsets, and that they were four times higher in 2013 when compared to the year before.

Moreover, as WMPoweruser notes, the report unveils that sales of Windows Phone devices accounted for around 10 percent of the market in November and December last year.

Apparently, wireless carriers Vodafone and Cosmote have confirmed high Windows Phone sales and the fact that Apple’s smartphone has been pushed to the back.

At the moment, however, Android continues to lead the market in Romania, the same as it does in the vast majority of countries around the globe.

However, the recent evolution of Windows Phone clearly shows that the mobile operating system is starting to become a threat to iOS, despite the fact that is has a lot of ground to cover.

Previous analyst reports suggested that Windows Phone could be able to get close to Android and iOS and that it will establish itself as the third largest mobile OS out there, something that is starting to pan out.
